The Africa No Filter Emerging Artists Fellows program will provide 12 exceptional creative practitioners from across the continent with mentorship, peer to peer skills sharing and new networks through monthly fellow-led seminars throughout the year.
Fellows will also be supported with a $5000 grant to assist in executing the proposed project, documenting findings and establishing new creative methodologies that can be presented and taught to a wider audience.
Africa No Filter recognises that the continent is inundated with creativity and innovation. However, outside of conventional three-year degrees or art schools, there are few short term programs for artists across the continent to meet, create, grow and develop with the same mission and focus. The program is open to exceptional emerging artists and creative practitioners based anywhere in Africa.
They must also be passionate about using art and creativity to challenge pre-existing harmful narratives of Africa. Fellows are encouraged to propose innovative, groundbreaking projects that have both digital and in-person elements.
