He has a BA Journalism (Honours) from the University of the Witwatersrand, and has spent much of his journalistic career at The Star, where he has held the posts of deputy editor, content and executive editor, news editor, political editor and political correspondent. 

Mary Harper is a journalist and author specialising in Africa, especially Somalia and the wider Horn. Mary is the BBC’s Africa Editor and has reported on events on the continent since the early 1990s. She is the author of Everything You Have Told Me is True: The Many Faces of Al Shabaab (Hurst) and Getting Somalia Wrong? 

Asif Sheikh the founder and CEO of one of the largest digitized video archives and production hubs on the African continent, Africa 24 Media, has a great passion for Africa and its people and is on a mission to showcase the continent and all its hidden beauty to the rest of the world. 

Eloïne Barry is a Guinean-Senegalese multiskilled, multilingual communications and business professional with a proven track record in building and managing PR businesses. She has an extensive background in media relations, corporate communications, and investor relations. 

Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy leads Facebook's Strategic Media Partnerships across Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining Facebook, Jocelyne served in various roles at Disney, Viacom and Thomson Reuters, bringing entertainment programming, television channels and international news to media platforms around the continent.
