ARTx Lagos
ART X Collective builds platforms to empower Africa’s creative talent. Over the past 7 years, it has successfully created renowned platforms including ART X Lagos(the premier international art fair in West Africa) ART X Prize (Nigeria’s leading award for emerging visual artists) and ART X Live! (a dynamic live showcase and launchpad for rising musicians and artists). Its digital platform ARTXLAGOS.COM draws in audiences across the continent, and beyond. It was founded by Tokini Peterside.
"ART X Collective is pleased to partner with Africa No Filter on ‘Future Africa’ to amplify narrative change by supporting the development of nuanced and contemporary stories that shift harmful stereotypes within and about Africa and thus build the field of African change-makers that are telling authentically African stories," said Peterside.
Future Africa is a specialist digital installation featuring emerging and under-represented African artists working across cutting-edge media. Curated to present a diversified, rebalanced image of Africa through artworks that deepen the understanding of contemporary African identity and culture, it seeks to demystify the continent’s aspirations, ways of living and thinking.
The partnership will support young African creatives in their use of digital media to create cutting-edge artistic projects that can yield a shift in the global understanding of African identity.
"We are passionate about amplifying narrative change by supporting the development of nuanced and contemporary stories that shift harmful stereotypes within and about Africa and thus build the field of African narrative change-makers that are telling authentically African stories."
