The film offers a deep dove into African people’s cultural and historical relationship with water as a way to address one of the most enduring stereotypes about blackness; that Black people can’t swim.

It’s a story that’s steeped in culture and spirituality, and emphasizes different customs, historical influences, and traditions around water. By embracing what is and what isn't and expressing it as it is, which can be taken as a love language, it reclaims the story of the incapacity to swim.
