Yuran Henrique is a Cape Verdean artist who uses expressionism to explore contemporary identities. He also works as a cartoonist in the newspaper Expresso das Ilhas newspaper. He’ll produce a multimedia series called ‘Small Island Landscape’.

What does popular iconography have to do with stereotypes and consequently, better representation? 

The series studies the types of popular iconography that can develop through complex processes of social growth. It explores the tension between freedom of random choice and meticulous composition.
