Frank Ogallo

Frank Ogallo is a digital storyteller with experience in curating, designing, managing and developing marketing campaigns across the African region. He has also authored a children's book to show the adverse effects of climate change. Ogallo’s funding - $1000- will produce short-form stories and podcasts that follow a group of African athletes to provide a unique insight into their daily life and conversations about the power of sports.

He believes that all athletes should have a platform to express themselves without intermediaries. "From this premise, a mission was born: to empower athletes from Africa to communicate in an unimpeded way and to tell their own stories. It is upending the world of sports media by working with athletes to tell unique, human stories from their point of view."

He added: By asking critical questions, developing innovative stories and giving voices to people who have yet to tell their stories to the world, it will enable me to enrich our understanding of what makes these athletes human, and to produce works of art that provoke and inspire us. The podcast is just one way in which he is telling the kind of stories he wants to see about Africa.

"Alongside the crises that preoccupy my region, and the gloomy headlines that continue to dominate worldwide media coverage on the continent, far more hopeful stories play out, and far more amazing stores about everyday Africa are yet to be told. I believe having the access to tell our stories changes these narratives and enables us to curate and create fun work that celebrates Africa."
