Michael Mulusa
Michael Mulusa is a Zambian filmmaker, advocate and speaker. His first Shot film Imizwa was nominated for the London lift-off film festival and the Jordanian international film festival. He is currently a student at YFP Africa.
Mulusa’s funding of $1700 will produce a short film about an 11-year old aspiring inventor who wants to use tech to inspire and innovate. "As a storyteller. I need not lie or exaggerate about Africa. All I have to do is be honest. And the truth is: Africa is great."
"This grant means enablement to me. I have been granted the ability to write and film the vision in my head. Usually, when writing and producing, the budget spearheads my creativity so I can’t write my thoughts simply because my thoughts have a hefty price tag."
He added: "Content is not produced based on the level of creativity but affordability.
He said he is interested in unique, narrative shifting stories because he wants Africa's truth to speak for the continent.
"I am passionate about the truth, and the truth is that Africa is great. As a storyteller, I need not to lie or exaggerate about Africa. All I have to do is be honest."
