David Nkwa - Nigeria
David Nkwa has turned his passion for exploring Nigeria and telling unique African stories into compelling YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram platforms that entertain and educate by showcasing cultures, landmarks, places, and issues that are rarely known. Using my platform, I have been able to carry out social intervention projects in the communities I have visited. He was among the six winners of the European Union short competition on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Nigeria. He’s working on two documentaries about a community that forbids cutting trees in Nigeria and on efforts of individuals who are fighting environmental pollution and plastic waste by converting them into house art and clothing.
“The grant provided by Africa No Filter will support me in telling more stories by covering some of my travel expenses and also to get one or two better pieces of equipment to shoot videos. But most importantly, having Africa No Filter endorse my works, and provide opportunities to collaborate with other creators across the continent is an immersed growth opportunity for me.”
