David Odiase - Nigeria
David Odiase is a writer whose work examines identity and belonging and considers the intersection of time and memory. He won the 2022 Black Warrior Review Fiction Contest, was shortlisted for Isele Magazine’s inaugural Short Story Prize and was longlisted for the 2021 Afritondo Short Story Prize. His work has appeared in Jalada Africa, Lolwe, Isele Magazine, and Washington Square Review.
He has been an Ebedi Writers fellow, an International Literary Seminar fellow and is currently the 2023/2024 Rajat Neogy Editorial fellow. He is working on a novel called Other Time, Other Life. It amplifies stories about the years of repression in Kenya. “It is only when we as Africans can tell our own story that we can define who we are for ourselves and not have someone else define us and then tell us who we are.”
