Ekari Mbvundula-Chirombo - Zimbabwe
Ekari Chirombo is a speculative fiction writer of over 15 short stories, published in both print and online magazines.
She founded the Story Ink Africa Storytelling Sessions, where up-and-coming writers from around Malawi would read their stories to a live audience.
Ekari won the second prize in an African-wide, short story marathon called The Writer 2016. She’s going to use her grant to publish and promote her first full-length novel about a university-aged young man and woman in a futuristic Malawi. “I believe that my book has the potential to make a tremendous impact, not only in the literary world but also in representing African culture and the potential future of technology in Africa.”
