Weyra is an online magazine and publishing platform showcasing the best creative writing from East Africa, particularly Ethiopia. Ethiopian literature is often underrepresented within the African literary space. Weyra aims to demonstrate an excellent collection of fiction and non-fiction from the country alongside those from neighbouring countries. 

Weyra also works to promote the local literary culture and community through book swaps, creative writing workshops and a book club that reads books by African authors. The platform is building an anthology of East African writing. “Literature offers a way for people to understand difficult or disturbing experiences by providing deeper context. It can serve as a meeting place for differing viewpoints and has the potential to illuminate a way out.”
