Kiven Brenda Nsodzefe – Cameroon
Kiven Nsodzefe started her career as a journalist in 2015. She writes for local and international media outlets on issues related to human rights, gender, crisis, environment, fact-checking and sports. She’s a stringer for the New York Times and the Littoral region’s bureau chief at Cameroon’s lone national English daily newspaper, The Guardian Post. “This opportunity means a lot to me because I have the opportunity to go back to the classroom and strengthen my knowledge on topics that I wasn’t taught in school. I want to be updated on developments in the journalism field, so I’m thrilled to learn about reporting from a different narrative. As someone who has contributed to painting Africa as a dark continent - ignorantly - I really wish to be part of this cleansing process by shifting stereotypical narratives. The Fellowship will help me produce stories that will portray solutions.”
