Otosirieze Obi-Young - Open Country Mag
Otosirieze Obi-Young founded Open Country mag in 2020 to provide in-depth context for African literature and film. He has worked extensively in African literature — covering important conversations, editing defining projects, and judging major awards. His aim? To help build a system of recognition and empowerment for African talent. “This grant ensures that Open Country Mag will directly empower four curators whose ideas may go on to rest norms within their industries. We hope that their work will inspire more people to see and capitalise on creative opportunities.”
Social media Quote: I do what I do because it is ideal, possible, and satisfactory to have a culture that works as it should, a system that works for us, the people for whom it exists.
