Wacera Njagi & Peter DiCampo – Everyday Projects
The Everyday Projects uses photography to challenge stereotypes that distort our understanding of the world by creating new generations of storytellers and audiences that recognise the need for multiple perspectives in portraying the cultures that define us. It’s led by journalist Wacera Njagi and Peter DiCampo, who is a documentary photographer. Their flagships projects includes Everyday Africa, which works to correct the visual narrative of the continent by finding meaning and beauty in the ordinary and shifting perception from sensationalized extremes to a more textured, familiar reality. Their grant will be used to launch the second season of The Essentials, a series of highly impactful, free, online webinars for photographers. “We are really thrilled that this grant will help us continue to build a community of photojournalists across Africa. The photographers we work with are dedicated to their craft and to surfacing new and more complete narratives of the continent,” said DiCampo.
