Our Team

Moky Makura was born in Nigeria, educated in England and has lived in London, Johannesburg and Lagos. She has been a TV presenter, producer, author, publisher and a successful entrepreneur in her own right. She started her media career as the African anchor and field reporter for Carte Blanche. She conceptualized, co-produced and presented a lifestyle TV series for the pan African pay TV channel MNet called Living It, and played a lead role in the groundbreaking Pan-African drama series Jacob’s Cross. Her book Africa’s Greatest Entrepreneurs, with a foreword written by Richard Branson, featured on the top 10 best-selling business books in South Africa when it launched.

Victor Mark-Onyegbu oversees grantmaking and community programming in both the Arts and Culture, digital content and the Media sectors in Africa. He is an honorary doctor of international relations and a 2024 fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Centre. He brings close to two decades of experience in supporting ANF’s mandate.

With her natural coordination and hands-on approach, Taz has over 15 years of experience in corporate and non-profit making organisations. She has worked as a Project Coordinator at Gates Foundation and Project Administrator at Standard Bank, Southern Africa Trust and ActionAid International. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Zambia, and a certificate in project management from Witwatersrand University.

François Bouda has collaborated with international organisations in Africa, Europe and the United States of America, including the Permanent Mission of la Francophonie to the UN in New York, Art Moves Africa (AMA) and Africalia.  He co-authored and authored several studies, including the Note on the Critical Analysis of Developments in the ACP Group’s Cultural Strategies and has led AMA’s study on cultural mobility and touring in West Africa. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anglophone Studies, a Master’s degree in Arts Management, and a European Diploma in Arts Projects Management from the Marcel Hicter Foundation.

At Africa No Filter, Levi Mulei provides strategic leadership across finance and related operations in support of the organisation’s mission to shift harmful narratives about Africa. He oversees financial strategy, risk management, compliance, and systems strengthening, ensuring sound stewardship of resources and long-term institutional sustainability. Levi brings extensive experience from global and regional contexts. He is currently pursuing a PhD and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Nyokabi Waweru oversees grants administration and grants operations, ensuring effective management of grant processes and compliance. She is a seasoned grants professional, and brings over a decade of experience gained from diverse roles supporting grants operations and budget management within development programmes.

Grace Njeri is a creative, storyteller, and strategist with over a decade of experience as a journalist and media expert. She builds connections and partnerships while bringing storytelling into projects.

Margaret (Maggie) Janes-Lucas is the Chief Operating Officer of Africa No Filter, leading organizational strategy, operations, and systems that strengthen the institution’s ability to shift harmful narratives about Africa. She has more than two decades of experience in non-profit leadership across Africa and in the USA, with deep expertise in strategic operations, governance, grant-making, and multi-country team management. She has held senior roles with the Tony Blair Institute, Mercy Corps, and USAID.

Daniel da Trindade is Africa No Filter’s Digital Lead and a Malawian digital communications specialist, filmmaker, and storyteller with over six years of experience working across Africa and the UK. His work spans digital strategy, social media, content creation and storytelling, with a particular interest in using digital platforms to amplify African stories and connect with audiences.

Outside of communications, Daniel is an award-winning filmmaker and runs Cinefilm Academy, where he supports emerging filmmakers in developing their craft. He is passionate about African creativity, authentic storytelling, and finding new ways to shift how the continent is represented both at home and globally

Andrino Akuda is a journalist, communications specialist and multimedia storyteller from the Democratic Republic of Congo. His work focuses on African storytelling, narrative change, youth, culture and humanitarian issues, amplifying underrepresented voices and challenging narratives that portray Africa primarily through conflict and crisis. 

With experience in strategic communications, digital storytelling, advocacy and multimedia production, he creates people-centred stories that highlight African agency, creativity, resilience and innovation. He is passionate about building a more nuanced media landscape where African communities shape their own narratives and influence how the continent is perceived globally.
