Abigael Kima is a renewable energy enthusiast, a climate justice advocate and founder of the Hali Hewa podcast. It’s one of Africa’s first youth-led podcasts profiling African activists and climate experts on themes including a just energy transition, loss and damage, youth participation in intergovernmental processes and indigenous rights.

For season 2 of the podcast, she’ll be producing content that focuses on energy transition in Africa, women’s activism at the Lamu Coal Power Plant, and climate and health. “This opportunity has given me the means to tell stories of Africa`s creativity, innovation and adaptability to the new normal that is climate change.”

Project

Hali Hewa podcast produced six episodes on climate and energy narratives in Africa, including content from COP28 in Dubai and the Africa Climate Summit. Other episodes discussed just transition, agriculture and food systems, youth leadership and climate activism and gender.

The content had 2,9k views and 57,3k impressions on Twitter. The podcasts reached 13, 339 accounts on Instagram. They were played 3017 times on Spotify.
